Program Manager

Mission Statement: Galveston Island Nature Tourism Council’s (GINTC) mission is to connect people with Galveston’s natural environment. In its 19th year, GINTC hosts the biggest birding festival in Texas, Galveston FeatherFest, as well as other nature related events and activities, offers outreach and education opportunities, and promotes the importance of our natural environment through our programs, partnerships, and collaborations.

Job description: The Program Manager will be responsible for successful leadership and implementation of programs and activities for GINTC. Partnering with other like-minded organizations, the Program Manager will use their experience and expertise to enhance operational capabilities and GINTC’s reputation in the community.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the Executive Director to implement and oversee nature programs and events such as Featherfest, Galveston’s Bird City program, etc.
  • Manage select GINTC programs including planning, logistics, communication, resourcing, and reporting.
  • Partner with like-minded organizations and leverage nature expertise to produce meaningful and fun experiences to further GINTC’s mission.
  • Participate in outreach/community engagement activities and events.
  • Coordinate GINTC’s volunteer management and recruitment programs and identify continuous improvement opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferred background in Birding, Biology or Nature
  • Significant program management experience
  • Flexibility to work in a small office setting as well as out in the community
  • Excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of Galveston County area or ecotourism background
  • Experience representing an organization to the community

Requirements:

  • Reliable transportation and proof of auto insurance
  • 40 hours/week
  • Availability to work some evenings and weekends
